Star Wars The Bad Batch Season 2 Update Is Bad News for Fans (1)

The wait for Star Wars: The Bad Batch’s second season may be longer than expected. The Bad Batch is a prequel to Star Wars: The Clone Wars that follows Clone Force 99. The Bad Batch was impervious to the Emperor’s mental command, unlike the stormtrooper clones who became puppets following Order 66. From the final season of Clone Wars, The Bad Batch ran for 16 episodes in summer 2021. A new report clarifies when Season 2 will debut on Disney+.

Star Wars Insider 209 was obtained by Reddit user BZPJMJ64 (via The Direct). An inside magazine photo reveals a production diary of currently filming movies and TV shows. Star Wars: Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi are “In Production.” Star Wars: The Bad Batch is listed below them in the “Coming Soon” section. The earlier display of “Spring 2022” has vanished, suggesting the cartoon series’ second season may be delayed until late 2022.

The Bad Batch is set for release in Spring 2022, according to Star Wars Insider. Even without it, fans shouldn’t be too upset about the show’s second season being delayed. The Mandalorian Season 3 and the next Ahsoka Tano series were nicely tied together with The Book of Boba Fett. It may have also set up a new Jedi Academy series since Luke Skywalker tried to recruit Grogu as his first student. Grogu chose instead to rejoin Din Djarin.

Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch will premiere in August 2021. “We are pleased to see the Star Wars animated universe continue to develop on Disney+,” said Michael Paull, President of Disney+ and ESPN+. “As the official Star Wars streaming home, we’re excited for the second season of this fan favourite animated series.

Thank you to Disney+ and our fans for allowing us to continue the story of the Bad Batch,” executive producer Dave Filoni said.
