The third season of Pennyworth’s trailer debuts a brand-new subtitle.
Pennyworth will soon undergo significant changes. The divisive Batman prequel series, which debuted on Epix for its first two seasons, will go to HBO Max exclusively this fall when season 3 premieres. However, we now know that the programme is also getting a redesign courtesy to a new trailer made available by IGN. The title of the series has been changed to Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler to emphasise its relationship to the DC Universe.
When a new season of Pennyworth was officially ordered by HBO Max last year, many DC fans were taken aback. The series hasn’t exactly received bad reviews. In fact, since its 2019 debut, it has gotten mostly favourable reviews. But it hasn’t yet succeeded in surpassing the standards set by other comic-based series. Therefore, adding “Batman” to the title might be a strategy used by HBO Max to increase viewership and safeguard their investment. If their choice was successful in the end, only time will tell.

It’s difficult to make assumptions about the plot because the teaser just includes a small sample of the next episodes’ material. Without a doubt, we now know that season 3 picks up five years after the English civil war shown in season 2. This time, a “culture revolution” that is sweeping their nation ushers in a new era of superhumans, placing Alfred Pennyworth and his comrades in the heart of it (both good and bad).
The third season of Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler will premiere on HBO Max sometime in October. HBO Max currently has the first two seasons of the show available for streaming.
