Potential Storyline Update
When Ray McNeil first encountered Sally Lowden, a former marine who had twice won the US armed forces physique competition in the 1980s, he was a Marine in the United States Marine Corps. Bodybuilding brought them together, and in 1987 they made the decision to get married. However, due to their continual fighting, it was not a happy marriage.
Sally chose to quit the military after being demoted, and in 1990 she refused to re-enlist. After she left, Sally decided to pursue a career in professional wrestling, where she became well-known as Killer Sally. Similarly, Ray was able to leave the marines and start again thanks to her new line of work.
Around 1994, the pair’s tensions escalated. Sally kept helping Ray, who was switching employment. When one of Ray’s mistresses approached her in the ring, she flew into a frenzy. She lost her wrestling licence after reacting negatively to the incident.
On February 14, 1995, Sally and Ray fought once more at home. Then Ray was shot three times, once in the head and twice in the stomach by Sally with a shotgun. Having been hit by Ray, she called 911 and said she killed him in self-defense. He had already been pronounced dead when Ray got to the hospital. As a result of Sally and Ray’s drug testing results, which revealed they were using steroids, the case earned the moniker “roid rage killing.”
Ray’s death in 1996 led to Sally’s eventual second-degree murder accusation. She was found guilty and given a sentence of 19 years in jail.
