Netflix Renews Wednesday for a Second Season

Nobody was shocked by Netflix’s decision to extend “Wednesday” for a second season.

On Nov. 23, the series’ eight-episode inaugural season with the “Addams Family” character as its centrepiece made its debut. Soon later, Netflix revealed that the show had amassed over 341 million hours of viewing in its first week, breaking the previous record for an English-language series on the platform. Since then, the programme has developed into the second-largest English-language television season on Netflix with over 1.2 billion hours watched within its first 28 days, among other streaming series records.

The horror comedy series’ lead, Jenna Ortega, plays Wednesday Addams. The focus of the programme is on Wednesday’s “years as a student at Nevermore Academy,” as stated in the official first season synopsis. She makes an effort to control her developing psychic gift, stop a horrific killing spree that has scared the neighbourhood, and unravel the paranormal mystery that ensnared her parents 25 years ago — all while juggling her brand-new, complicated connections at Nevermore.

In Season 1’s cast, in addition to Ortega, there were Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J. Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Riki Lindhome, and Christina Ricci. Alongside Isaac Ordonez and Luis Guzmán as Gomez and Pugsley, Catherine Zeta-Jones also made an appearance as Morticia Addams.

The show’s development, co-showrunners, executive producers, and creators, Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. The show’s executive producer and director of the first four episodes is Tim Burton. Along with Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman of Glickmania, Gail Berman, Tommy Harper, and Kevin Lafferty, Steve Stark of Toluca Pictures, Andrew Mittman of 1.21 Entertainment, and Kevin Miserocchi of the Tee and Charles Addams Foundation executive produce the film. Studio name: MGM Television.

Gough and Millar remarked that it had been amazing to produce a production that had touched audiences all across the world. “Ecstatic to continue Wednesday’s arduous trek into season two. We are eager to explore the bizarre, eerie world of Nevermore in season two. The pool needs to be checked to make sure it hasn’t already been emptied before Wednesday.
